Farmers will be happy to see the El Niño come to an end. Hopefully ending a long period of dry weather.
The sea surface temperatures across the tropical Pacific have cooled returning the tropical Pacific Ocean to a neutral El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) state.
The ENSO Outlook is still at a La Niña watch, with a 50% chance of a La Niña developing later in 2016. This could lead to a wetter than average winter and spring, potentially a welcome relief for the QLD farmers that have not seen good rains in a number of years.
This could be good news for farmers!
