Rockhampton flood warning

As the clean up starts in many areas some of the effects of Tropical Cyclone Debbie still yet to be felt.

The associated rain from Tropical Cyclone Debbie that has caused widespread damage through much of Queensland is yet to reach Rockhampton. The rain that fell in the catchment over the last week is slowly making it way down the Fitzroy River. The latest information from the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has the Fitzroy river peaking at close to 9.0 meters on Wednesday.

This will be a significant flood event for the region, with access cut in many areas. Rockhampton airport has been closed, and is expected to stay closed for about a week.

It’s important for people to get ready for this event while they have the chance and remember, if its flooded forget it.
