Category B assistance has been activated for Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie, 28 March 2017.
The Category B assistance for primary producers has been activated for the following local government areas:
- Mackay Regional Council
- Whitsunday Regional Council
Through this arrangement, producers have access to freight subsidies of up to $5,000 per property to move materials, such as emergency fodder, restocking, building and fencing materials and machinery and equipment movement to assist in recovery. These freight subsidies are available through DAF.

Assistance is also available through QRAA. QRAA administers financial assistance to disaster affected primary producers, businesses and non-profit organisations under the joint Commonwealth / Queensland Government funded Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
Primary producers and small businesses directly affected by Cyclone Debbie may be eligible for low interest loans up to $250,000.
Natural Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital)
Primary producers and small businesses which have suffered a significant loss of income as a result of Cyclone Debbie may be eligible for low interest loans up to $100,000.
